LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28, 2002 — Multiplatinum hard rockers Papa Roach will soon be seen and heard performing their song “Time And Time Again” in a television commercial for Pepsi-Cola North America’s new berry/cola fusion, Pepsi Blue.  “Time And Time Again” is the second radio track off P-Roach’s gold lovehatetragedy (DreamWorks Records).

The commercial is being directed by Samuel Bayer, who first turned heads with Nirvana’s landmark “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video.  Papa Roach and Bayer are pulling double duty in Los Angeles Aug. 27-30, simultaneously shooting the Pepsi spot and the video for “Time And Time Again.”  The video will expand on the concept behind the commercial, with the two productions also sharing sets and other creative elements.

“Time And Time Again” goes to radio Sept. 10, with the Pepsi Blue spot hitting the small screen Sept. 16 and the “Time And Time Again” clip scheduled to land at MTV the second week in September.

Papa Roach is not alone in enjoying the support of Pepsi: Up-and-coming Interscope rap-rock act Sev will be featured in the very first television commercial for Pepsi Blue, which will air Aug. 29 during the MTV Video Music Awards.   Both the Sev and Papa Roach spots will bear the tagline “It’s the mix.”

“This whole thing has been really cool,” says Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix.  “We’ve been fans of Sam Bayer for a long time, ever since he did those Nirvana videos.  And the people at Pepsi have been great about letting us do what we want on the creative end.  We’re really proud of ‘Time And Time Again’ and we want as many people as possible to hear it.   We think this is a great, different way of getting the song out there.”

DreamWorks Records principal executive Michael Ostin agrees: “This is a tremendous opportunity to raise awareness for ‘Time And Time Again.’   Pepsi loves the song and fully understands how the sound and attitude of Papa Roach’s music speaks to the same people who will be drinking Pepsi Blue.  We’re always looking for new avenues to enhance exposure for our artists.  We think these kinds of commercial and creative relationships are the wave of the future and we’re thrilled to be involved in this one.”
