Legendary Producer Tony Visconti Produces New Album
Band Performs In Russia For First Time
Australian Dates With Rage Against The Machine Confirmed
New York, NY - Politico-punk icons, Anti-Flag will release their new
album, The Bright Lights of America on April 1, 2008 on RCA Records. The
Bright Lights of America is their sixth album and the follow-up to their
2006 release For Blood And Empire. It was recorded at Saint Claire
Studios in Lexington, KY with legendary producer Tony Visconti. Through
his work with T Rex, David Bowie, Thin Lizzy, and Morrissey, Tony is
revered worldwide for altering the sound of rock music: a sound that is
still impacting bands today. Tony was so intrigued with Anti-Flag’s
lyrical imagery and social perspective that he chose Anti-Flag as his
first ever punk rock project. Ready to challenge themselves sonically
and with a deep appreciation for Tony’s historical production work, the
band headed into the studio with Tony last year. From the groundbreaking
pairing of these talented forces, comes The Bright Lights of America,
Anti-Flag’s most accomplished and diverse work to date.
The sound and stance of this new album will shatter expectations about
Anti-Flag. A new breath has been exhaled on their agro-chant guitar
driven sound that their hardcore fans have grown to love. In their new
songs “The Bright Lights Of America,” “Vices” and “We Are The Lost” they
cover uncharted territory with themes dealing with emotional turmoil and
personal insight that will resonate with both new and old fans alike.
Both their sound and viewpoints have expanded but their ideology remains
intact. As politicians continue to spew their rhetoric this election
year, Anti-Flag continue to respond by serving up their one-two punch of
disillusionment and politically charged anger. On “No Warning” and “Good
And Ready” the band holds nothing back in their incendiary commentary on
the current state of the punk community and of a blood thirsty society.
"Musically and lyrically The Bright Lights Of America is the most
personal record we've ever written. For many years we have written
about the trappings and injustice of the corporate state. With this
collection of songs we traveled a new path. One of hope and one filled
with the possibilities of change that we as individuals can create."
Justin Sane, Anti-Flag
Over the last ten years, Anti-Flag has relentlessly and steadfastly
worked towards making a stand for political and social change. They’ve
tackled important and challenging issues affecting both the left and the
right. They not only write songs about the problems facing society, they
act to make change and in the process, encourage their fans to do the
same. In the last year alone they have registered 10,000 young voters,
raised money to build and maintain wells in Africa and released a
charity EP “A Benefit for Victims of Violent Crime” on their own label
A-F Records with proceeds going to the The Center for Victims of
Violence and Crime (www.cvvc.org) as well as educational bonds.
Anti-Flag begin 2008 on an Australian tour which includes an appearance
at the legendary Big Day Out festival in Australia (headlined by Rage
Against The Machine) as well as two separate shows down under with Rage.
Following Australia, the band heads out on a 3 ? week tour of Europe and
the UK which will see them perform on the NME Brats lineup with critics’
faves Gallows. Anti-Flag will then take their sound and message to
Russia for the first time with shows in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
