

| Changing the face of rock music is no easy task. Many people try,
and it just comes off as so contrived. It has to come from the soul pure passion,
with no bullshit. It cant be something a band sets out to do; it has to just happen.
Nirvana did it, so did Led Zeppelin and they are legends because of it. We can only be who we are, no more, no less. System Of A Down may not be legendary (yet), but they are changing rock music, just by being who they are. By combining a multitude of musical styles, cultural diversity and intensely passionate lyrics with wave after wave of blistering rock, they have created a sound that defines them, yet is inclusive to all. It is their way inclusion, not exclusion. We had the pleasure to speak with the backbone of that intense rock, drummer John Dolmayan, as System Of A Down wound their way across America. Read on |
