to Your Power Needs Sum 41 want to show you the time of your life…for half an hour. It's not that they don't want you to have more fun than that, but it's all they can give, really. They will tell you that a half-hour is the length of their set for good reason - it's all they've got. It may be the best half-hour you've had in some time, but once it's over, it's over. It's like sex that way - a half-hour of bliss, and then they're done for the night. Sum 41's aptly titled debut EP, Half Hour of Power (Island Records), is really just that - thirty minutes of post-punk flair and enough power to take care of the California energy crisis. It's all about the energy and the fun with these guys. For them, it's living out the dream most young men (and many women, too) have: play the music you love with a bunch of your friends and hit the road. Leave your cares behind and give rock and roll your best shot.
