It's hard to imagine five people who are less enamoured with the concept of fame than the individuals who make up Remy Zero. For these guys, it is about the music. They have worked hard for what they have, but don't seemed to be consumed with being rock stars. It seems far more important that they are making music with each other than just about anything. In spending time with them, you feel comfortable, at ease, and it is readily apparent that they enjoy each other's company. They are five very different personalities who play off of each other, finish each other's sentences and genuinely like each other.
And they rock. The love of the music they make shines through in their live performance, and they put all they have out there for the fans to feel. It's an intimate and personal show - the songs relate the experiences that the band has had along its path to fame, and not all of those experiences have been pleasant. Singer Cinjun Tate's voice maintains the quality heard on their latest album, Villa Elaine (Geffen Records, 1998), backed by the dual guitars of brother Shelby Tate and Jeffrey Cain and the rhythm section of bassist Cedric LeMoyne and drummer Gregory Slay.
