Forget about bands suing their fans for being fans. Forget about the sell-outs that want you to think they are the "next great band" but have nothing to back it up. If you want real passion, intensity and a fire that burns so hot it'll char you to the bone, Machine Head is the place to turn. They are aggro at it's best.

Machine Head's latest release, The Burning Red (Roadrunner Records), is a rocket ride emitted from front man Robert Flynn's molten core. It's a rare treat nowadays to have a band that rocks this heavy and still has quality lyrics and melodies. Throughout the record, Flynn displays his ability to move from a vacant whisper to a thundering wall of mud and violence, ready to crush all in it's path.

The real secret of Machine Head, though, lies in their raging live show. These guys leave you sweaty, bruised and bloody. Flynn is able to take the brutal honesty that his lyrics possess and verbally grab you by collar, through you up against the wall, and deliver repeated blows to your solar plexus, leaving you winded and gasping for more. Guitarist Ahrue Luster amply backs Flynn's lyrics with a hurricane flurry of sound, and the rhythm section of bassist Adam Duce and Dave McClain provide a wall of thunder than rumbles along to engulf the crowd.

VOX had the chance to speak with Mr. Flynn, and we thought you might like to read the words from the burning man himself…
