Talking Smack

The media seems to consistently look for sources of controversy surrounding rock stars.  Godsmack has been the subject of plenty of media attention, but not for their music, rather for created controversy.  The Godsmack name is one source - "Are they satanic?"   The mainstream media doesn't look past their own noses for sources.  That would be too easy.  Controversy is much more fun, and it sells more newspapers or magazines.

Then there is Sully Erna.  He's a Wiccan.   Get over it.  Yes, he believes in a religion that was considered old when Jesus was born.  The sad truth is that rather than discover that Wicca is a religion that preaches peace and responsibility for one's own actions, it's much easier to point and yell, "Pagan!"  It has become fodder for the religious right wing.

As Erna says, "Whatever."

We stayed out of their way when it was time to go to work, but prior to their performance at the Hollywood Palace, we got guitarist Tony to sit down for a few minutes and spill his guts...enjoy.
