If 2002 goes by and you haven't heard of Default, either (a) you live under a rock or (b) something has gone terribly wrong with the system.  They've just finished up a tour with Bush.  Now they're heading out on the MTV Campus Invasion Tour with Nickelback and Injected for the remainder of the spring.

Opening up for those big names is a start, but if you don't have the music and live show to back it up, it won't matter.

Fortunately for these guys, they’ve got what it takes and much, much more.  With two great songs, "Deny" and "Wasting My Time" already bubbling up at radio and a record, The Fallout, that is full of singles, Default are well on their way to rock stardom.  The video for "Deny," which features Laila Ali beating the crap out of the band is also in heavy rotation at M2, giving the guys even more exposure and fans a chance to get on the Default bandwagon early.

In addition, their live show is energy filled and has all the power and feel of a band that has been touring for years.  When we caught them

recently, many of the fans had no idea who Default were at the beginning of the night, or they were just learning about these Canadian boys.  By the time the set was over, there were plenty of surprised faces and a good long line at the merchandise table.  Many in the crowd knew they had just had a glimpse of a band on the rise.

Prior to sound checking, VOX had the chance to sit down with Dave Benedict and talk about making videos, Canadian rock and lots more.
